Curing UV Optical Bonding Adhesives
Low-shrinkage, often index-matched adhesives for bonding lenses, prisms, and optical assemblies, cured through the optic so alignment is frozen without thermal soak.
How It Cures
Formulated for minimal cure stress so they don’t distort the wavefront; cure band is chosen so it passes through the glass to the bond line.
Through a substrate: Cured through optical glass, use a longer band the glass transmits, and a heat filter with an arc source to avoid thermally distorting the optic.
A broad-spectrum arc cures whatever optical adhesive you qualify and its longer wavelengths pass through most optical glass; add the heat filter (UV2554). For a 405 nm optical adhesive on a fixtured bench, a matched SkyBeam channel works well.
