Surface-mount parts that shift between placement and reflow cause bridges, tombstones, and rejects. A UV-tack adhesive fixes each part in one to three seconds of spot exposure, the joint is held before the board ever reaches the oven, and the tack burns off or stays inert through reflow depending on the chemistry you choose.
Tacking adhesives are photo-initiated acrylics that gel the instant their initiator sees enough UV of the right wavelength. - 3 Bring the guide tip close. Hold the 5 mm guide tip a few millimetres above the adhesive. Intensity falls off quickly with distance, so close and consistent beats far and guessed.
