Does the SkyWand ever need a bulb change?

No, the source is a solid-state UV LED, so there is no bulb and no scheduled lamp swaps like an arc system. If output ever declines below what your adhesive needs, contact us about light source replacement.

How long does the LED emitter last?

Uvitron does not publish an hour rating for the emitter. The documented practice is to check intensity periodically with a UV-A radiometer and contact us for light source replacement if it is no longer powerful enough for your glue curing.

Why does the lens get dirty?

In normal use the lens picks up environmental dust and the volatiles given off by UV glue. That film absorbs output, which is why the manual calls for cleaning to keep UV power up.

How often should I clean the lens?

No fixed interval is documented, clean it regularly, more often with heavy adhesive use, and any time output seems down. It is the single most effective piece of user upkeep.

What should I keep away from the lens?

Liquid, dust, and other pollutants, that is a specific warning in the manual. The carry case is the right home for the wand between jobs.

What lens options are there?

Can I change the wavelength later?

Wavelength is set by the LED emitter and there is no documented user swap. If your adhesive lineup changes, talk to us about options, sometimes a second wand in the other band is the practical answer.

Does the emitter put out UVB or UVC?

Essentially none, LED systems like the SkyWand emit a narrow UVA band. UVA eye and skin precautions still fully apply.

Does the LED produce ozone?

No, LED sources produce no ozone, so there is no ventilation requirement the way there is with broad-spectrum arc lamps.

Does the lamp head get hot?

Heat dissipation is by mechanical cooling per the brochure, and the LED beam itself carries minimal IR. If the head ever seems abnormally hot, stop and contact us.

How do I check the emitter's output?

Measure the UV intensity with a UV-A radiometer periodically, that is the manual's stated method for confirming the source is still strong enough for your glue curing.

What if the radiometer shows low output?

Clean the lens first, dust and glue volatiles are the usual culprits, then re-measure. If it is still not powerful enough for your curing, contact us and we'll arrange a new UV light source replacement.

Can I replace the LED myself?

No user procedure exists for the emitter. The manual's direction is to contact us for UV light source replacement, and we'll arrange it through Uvitron factory service.

Why LED instead of an arc-lamp wand?

Instant on/off with no warm-up, constant regulated output, minimal IR heating, no ozone, and no bulb to replace on a schedule.

The trade-off is a narrow UVA band, so your adhesive must respond at the LED's wavelength, check the datasheet.

Do adhesive fumes harm the emitter?

The volatiles from UV glue deposit on the optical lens and cut output, that is documented, and routine cleaning with lens tissue and alcohol restores it. Keep the lens clean and the emitter behind it keeps doing its job.

Can I use solvents other than alcohol?

The manual specifies alcohol with lens tissue or a dust-free cloth; stick with that. If a deposit will not come off with alcohol, ask us before trying anything harsher, the lens is replaceable.

Can I wipe the lens with a paper towel?

Use lens tissue or a dust-free cloth as the manual directs, optical surfaces deserve optical materials. And always switch the UV off before cleaning.

Do different lenses change the spot?

Is output consistent shot to shot?

Yes, the LED source is regulated for consistent UV output, cure after cure, regardless of battery level. That is the core of the SkyWand's process repeatability.

Can I leave the light on between cures?

You can, but switching off between cures is the better habit, it saves battery (about 2 hours of on-time per pack) and reduces stray UV at the bench. On/off is instant, so there is no penalty.

How do I protect the lens on a job site?

Keep the wand in its carry case whenever it is not in your hand, and keep the lens away from liquid, dust, and other pollutants per the manual. A quick lens check before each session is cheap insurance.

Can a scratched lens be replaced?

Yes, the optical lens is a replaceable part. Contact us with your model and serial and we'll supply the correct original lens.

How do I remove cured glue from the lens?

Switch the lamp off and work at the residue with lens tissue and alcohol per the manual. Do not scrape, the lens is replaceable, and we can supply the right one if the residue will not lift.

Do third-party lenses affect the warranty?

Yes, the manual warns that other manufacturers' replacement parts can affect product performance and will void the warranty. Use original Uvitron optics only.

Is there mercury in the LED emitter?

No, there is no mercury lamp in an LED source, unlike arc systems whose spent lamps need mercury-safe recycling. The Li-ion packs are also lead- and mercury-free.

Can I judge UV strength by eye?

No, never look into the beam at all, and perceived brightness is not a cure measurement. Use a UV-A radiometer to verify intensity, as the manual directs.

How narrow is the emitter's spectrum?

It is a focused, narrow UVA band centered on your ordered wavelength (365 or 405 nm as stocked), which minimizes IR and keeps assemblies cool. Match it to the absorption band on your adhesive datasheet.

Is the beam uniform across the spot?

Spot uniformity is not published in the documentation. The practical approach is to verify dose with a UV-A radiometer at your actual working distance and geometry.

What if the lens fogs or clouds?

Does dust in the shop hurt the emitter?

What reduces UV output over time?

On the user side, a contaminated lens is the main cause, and cleaning restores it. Long-term source decline is handled through UV light source replacement, which we arrange.

Can I turn down the intensity?

No intensity adjustment is documented, the switch is on/off and the output is fixed and constant. Control the delivered dose with exposure time instead.

Does the LED flicker or pulse?

No, it is continuous, regulated output for as long as the light is on. If you ever observe flicker, re-seat the battery pack and contact us if it persists.

Can one wand cure different adhesive brands?

Yes, provided each adhesive responds at your wand's wavelength, check the band listed on each datasheet. If your adhesives split across bands, you may need a 365 nm and a 405 nm unit; ask us.

When is light source replacement needed?

When a UV-A radiometer shows the output is no longer powerful enough for your glue curing even after a lens cleaning. At that point, contact us and we'll arrange the replacement.

How does light source replacement work?

There is no user procedure, you contact us, and we arrange the work with Uvitron, the manufacturer. That keeps everything original and the warranty intact.

Is reflected UV from the spot dangerous?

Treat reflections with the same respect as the beam, position work so stray light and reflections off shiny fixtures do not reach anyone's eyes, and keep goggles on everyone nearby.

How many LEDs are in the head?

The manual and brochure describe the source simply as a UV LED and do not publish the emitter layout. If construction details matter to your process, contact us and we'll get specifics from Uvitron.

Why spot curing instead of flood curing?

A focused spot puts the energy on the joint, the SkyWand concentrates its output into a 15 mm spot at 0.9 W/cm², which confines UV to where it is needed and limits incidental exposure.
