The wand won't turn on, what do I check?
Three quick checks: the pack is charged (green light on the charger), it is inserted anode-forward with the cathode at the tail, and the tail cap is fully seated. Try the second pack; if it still will not light, email us the model and serial.
The lamp shut off mid-cure. Why?
Almost always a depleted pack, output holds at full strength until the battery is empty, then stops rather than fading. Swap in the charged spare and put the empty pack on the charger.
No red light when I dock a battery?
Check that the pack's anode meets the charger's anode and cathode meets cathode, then confirm the charger is plugged into live wall power. If a correctly seated pack still shows no red, contact us.
Charger light never turns green, now what?
A full charge takes about 4 hours. If it runs well beyond that with no green, re-seat the pack and verify orientation; a pack near the end of its 300–500 cycle life may also charge abnormally, contact us for a replacement.
Why does the UV seem weaker than it was?
First clean the lens, dust and UV-glue volatiles on the optic are the documented cause of lost output. Then confirm you are at the 28 mm focus distance and verify intensity with a UV-A radiometer; if it is still low, we'll arrange light source replacement.
My adhesive won't fully cure, help?
Work through four factors: wavelength matches the adhesive's datasheet band, the lens is clean, the lamp is at the 28 mm focus distance, and exposure time reaches the specified dose. If it still will not cure, email us the adhesive name and your setup.
Why is the adhesive surface still tacky?
Surface tack usually means the dose or wavelength is not matching the datasheet, extend the exposure, confirm the band, and verify intensity with a UV-A radiometer. Our team can talk through your parameters if it persists.
Output fades while I work, is that normal?
No, the SkyWand is designed for constant output that does not fade even on a low battery. If you are seeing a genuine fade, swap in a charged pack; if it continues, contact us to arrange service.
Why is runtime suddenly so short?
The pack is likely aging, 300–500 charge cycles is the documented life, or has been hurt by repeated deep discharges. A new original pack restores the roughly 2-hour runtime.
Why won't a pack hold a charge anymore?
That is end-of-life behavior for a Li-ion cell, accelerated by deep discharges or overcharging. Recycle it per local law, never in fire, and order an original replacement pack from us.
A battery is hot or swollen, what do I do?
Stop using and stop charging it immediately, and contact us. Never dispose of a Li-ion pack in fire, the manual warns they will explode, recycle it under local disposal rules.
Why does the light flicker when I move it?
Power flows through the pack in the handle, so switch off, re-seat the battery anode-forward, and snug the tail cap. If flicker continues with a known-good pack, email us to arrange factory service.
What if the switch stops responding?
Rule out power first: load a freshly charged pack in the correct orientation. If the switch still does nothing, do not open the lamp, contact us and we'll arrange factory service.
I dropped the wand, what should I check?
Inspect the lens for damage, confirm it powers on, and watch output with a UV-A radiometer over the next few sessions. Any cracks, rattles, or odd behavior, stop and contact us for factory service.
Liquid got on the lamp, what now?
Switch it off and remove the pack, let everything dry, and clean the lens with lens tissue and alcohol. The manual warns against liquid on the optics, if anything behaves oddly afterward, contact us.
Why is my spot bigger than 15 mm?
Spot size is specified at the 28 mm focus distance, farther away, the beam spreads and intensity drops. Bring the lens back to about 28 mm from the work.
Why does the spot look dim through goggles?
The Shade 5.0 goggles heavily darken what you see, that is them doing their job, not the lamp failing. Judge output with a UV-A radiometer, never by eye.
Why are my cures inconsistent between parts?
Output itself is constant, so variation usually comes from technique: working distance drifting from the 28 mm focus, unequal exposure times, or a lens that needs cleaning. Standardize those three and cures track.
Cleaned the lens but output is still low?
If a UV-A radiometer still reads below what your glue needs after a proper cleaning, that is the manual's trigger for a new UV light source, contact us and we'll arrange the replacement.
Packs charge fine but die fast in the lamp?
That points to worn cells, the green light only means charge-complete, not full capacity. Check the pack's age against the 300–500 cycle life and replace it with an original pack from us.
Trouble after using a third-party battery?
Go back to the original 3.7 V 3000 mAh packs, the manual warns other manufacturers' parts can affect performance, and they void the warranty. If problems continue on original packs, email us the details.
Can I repair the wand myself?
User-side care is limited to charging, pack swaps, and lens cleaning. Anything beyond that, switch, emitter, electronics, we arrange as factory service through Uvitron; there are no documented user repairs.
What should I include in a support request?
Model and part number (SkyWand, UVS-SW1-LED), serial number, a description of the symptom, and photos or a short video if you can, it gets us to a fix faster. Send it to sales@uvspotshop.com.
How fast does tech support respond?
Our US-based team replies within one business day. Email sales@uvspotshop.com, real people who run these systems every day.
Is repair covered under warranty?
The SkyWand carries a 2-year OEM warranty. If something fails in service, email us the model, serial, and symptom and we'll arrange repair or replacement.
My line is down, can you expedite?
Yes, advance replacement is available for line-down situations. Email sales@uvspotshop.com with your model, serial, and symptom and flag it as line-down.
What voids the SkyWand warranty?
Using other manufacturers' replacement parts, batteries, charger, lenses, is the documented way to void it. The 2-year OEM warranty assumes original accessories throughout.
Do you handle out-of-warranty repairs?
Contact us with the model, serial, and symptom, we'll arrange factory service through Uvitron and quote the work before anything happens.
Can I return it if it doesn't suit my process?
Unused units have 30-day returns. Before you box it up, talk to us, a wavelength, distance, or exposure adjustment often solves the fit problem.
Charger goes green right away on a dead pack?
Re-seat the pack and double-check the anode/cathode orientation first. If a drained pack repeatedly shows instant green, it is likely at end of life, contact us for an original replacement.
Wand shuts off seconds after turning on?
That is the signature of a nearly empty or poorly seated pack. Charge to the green light, insert anode-forward with the cap snug, and try the spare; contact us if a fresh pack behaves the same.
I lost the goggles, can I still work?
Not without UV eye protection, the manual requires goggles on before turning on the light source. Contact us for replacement UV-protective goggles.
The beam looks uneven, what do I do?
Clean the lens first, patchy residue from dust or glue volatiles is the usual cause. If the output still looks or measures uneven, stop and contact us for service.
The tail cap won't thread on smoothly?
Check the battery direction, anode forward, cathode at the tail, and confirm it is the original 3.7 V 3000 mAh pack. If the cap still fights you, contact us rather than forcing it.
My cure worked yesterday but not today?
Something changed, the usual suspects are a drained pack (swap it), a film on the lens (clean it), or working distance creeping past the 28 mm focus. Walk those three and the cure typically comes back.
Charging takes far longer than 4 hours?
Confirm the charger is on live wall power and the pack is seated with correct polarity. Aging packs can charge abnormally; if a healthy-looking pack routinely overruns the roughly 4-hour spec, contact us.
Caught without a charged spare, options?
Charging takes about 4 hours, so there is no shortcut, plan swaps so the spare goes on the charger the moment you pull it. For long shifts or remote work, extra original packs are worth having; request them via our quote page.
Are there error lights on the wand?
No, the lamp itself has no documented indicators; the red and green lights live on the charger. If something seems wrong, describe the symptom to us and we'll take it from there.
Something rattles inside the lamp head?
Stop using it and contact us, there is no documented user disassembly, so a rattle is a factory-service matter. We'll arrange it with Uvitron.
There's an odd smell from the lamp, help?
Switch off, remove the pack, and stop using the unit. Email us the model, serial, and what you noticed, we'll arrange inspection or factory service.
When should I contact support vs. self-fix?
Self-fix covers charging, pack swaps and orientation, and lens cleaning. Anything else, switches, emitter, housings, or persistent symptoms, email sales@uvspotshop.com and we'll arrange factory service.
Who actually performs the repairs?
Uvitron International, the manufacturer, through factory service that we coordinate as your US-based supplier. You deal with us; we handle the arrangements.
The battery won't slide into the handle?
Make sure it is the original 3.7 V 3000 mAh Li-ion pack going in anode-first, that is the only battery the manual approves. Never force a pack; if an original one binds, contact us.
UV glare is harsh even with goggles on?
Reposition so you are not looking toward the beam or its reflections, and shield stray light at the bench with a panel or curtain. Also check that you are wearing the included Shade 5.0 pair and that it is in good condition.
What routine upkeep does the SkyWand need?
Keep the lens clean (lens tissue and alcohol, lamp off), avoid deep discharges and overcharging, store the kit in its case, and check intensity periodically with a UV-A radiometer.
Use only original accessories, that also protects the 2-year warranty.
